Dough bowl candles take their name from the carved wooden bowls once used for kneading dough — today, loved for the rustic warmth they bring to a room and for the long second life the bowl enjoys once the wax is gone.

This one is poured into an oval carved wooden bowl and finished entirely by hand: a sculpted sunflower with leaves at one end, pearl accents scattered across the wax, and "HAPPY RAKHI" spelled out in letter beads. The greeting, the gift and the décor are all one piece.

Wood grain, sunflower detailing and finish vary naturally from piece to piece — each candle is one of a kind.

Before lighting, lift off the letter beads, pearls and any decoration sitting near the wicks — toppings are for display, never for burning. The wax sunflower will soften and melt into the pool as the candle burns down.

Trim the wicks to about 5mm, light all wicks together so the wax pools evenly across the wide bowl, and burn on a heat-safe surface away from drafts. Keep burns to 3–4 hours at a time.

Because the vessel is wood, always stop while a base layer of wax remains — never burn to the bare bowl.

Afterwards, clear the leftover wax with warm (not boiling) water and keep the oval bowl as a décor tray.

Keep the candle away from direct sun, heaters and humid spots — heat softens the sculpted sunflower and moisture is unkind to wood.

Never leave it burning unattended; keep clear of children, pets, fabric and drafts, and extinguish if the flame nears the wooden rim or any remaining decoration.

Stop each burn while a wax base layer remains, and wipe the bowl with a dry cloth only — never soak the wood.
