This effect is called chatoyancy.

Natural colour ranges from golden yellow to rich amber-brown, often with darker banding. The stone is relatively hard (7 on the Mohs scale) and durable.

Associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) and the Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana), tiger eye governs personal power, instinct, and the courage of decisive action. In many traditions, it is classified as a warrior stone — carried into situations requiring mental sharpness, steadiness under fire, and the ability to hold ground.
