Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj) is the Vedic gemstone of Jupiter (Guru) and one of the most auspicious Navaratna stones. Yellow Sapphire is the golden-yellow variety of corundum (crystalline aluminium oxide), coloured by traces of iron. One of the hardest and most auspicious gems, it is found in Sri Lanka, Thailand and Madagascar. In Vedic tradition it is Pukhraj, the gemstone of Jupiter (Guru) and one of the nine Navaratna stones — long worn for prosperity and blessings.
